Maren’s 1st Trip Around the Sun First Birthday Party Theme

Maren’s 1st trip around the sun first birthday party theme was the perfect way to celebrate this huge milestone! And as much as it is Maren’s 1st birthday party, I feel like the first birthday party is just as much for the parents as it is for the child. The 1st birthday celebrates so many different things — triumphs through the hardships of trying to conceive, pregnancy and childbirth, surviving newborn nights, hitting all the first-year milestones, and watching their personalities evolve.

I don’t know how it happened, but Maren is a mauve girl. Maren’s nursery has mauve tones and her entire wardrobe so it just made sense to that her 1st Trip Around the Sun Birthday Party had a mauvy sunburst boho vibe.

Activities:

I put together a rainbow marker and colored pencil holder and downloaded these adorable busy space-themed coloring sheets so the kids had an activity to do if they didn’t want to swim. I also got a couple of Color Your Own Rocket Ship Playhouses which the kids had a blast coloring and hanging out in.

Kids Table:

I thought these trendy sunglasses would tie in perfectly with the theme so I crafted them myself to make them affordable — it was a really easy and quick DIY. I will say using a tweezer to put the letters helped quite a bit. Here are the products I used to make these personalized toddler sunglasses:

Cake: 

I wanted this custom sunburst boho mauvy cake topper to be the focus when it came to the design of the cake so I ordered a naked cake with a white drip top from Patty Cakes in Rocky Hill, CT. The ricotta and Nutella cake is a favorite!

This boho tassel garland tied in so well with the color scheme. We used it as decoration on her highchair for cute pictures with her smash cake
